This is a sample of one of our Chabot Adventure Time newsletters:

Welcome to Chabot!

Well, well, well, here we are again-the beginning of another school year! I certainly hope that you all had a wonderful, fun, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. We at Adventure Time are already back into the swing of things. It is always so much fun to come back to school and get all the great hugs and hellos from our returning families and such a pleasure to meet and greet all the new folks. An extra treat is to finally have those younger siblings grow up and make it to A.T. Boy, time certainly does fly by.

September provided us lots of opportunities to get acquainted. It also provided us with quite a range of topics for our activities. Did you know that September is National Honey Month, Piano, Rice, and Chicken Months? And how about Library Card Sign-Up Month? Interesting, these are just a few of the fun-filled facts your child will be bringing home from Chabot. We have elected to focus on a few themes while throwing in some projects from the calendar of days and events. Our official themes are Kaleidoscope of Colors, Getting To Know You, Fun With Fall, and It's Harvest Time. Since September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic American Heritage Month, we will have additional activities that focus on that as well.

Now October has a whole different focus...National Dinosaur, Apple, Caramel, Cookies, Desserts, Pasta, Popcorn Poppin', Pretzel, and Stamp Collecting Month. Do you detect some sort of theme? I'm predicting that a lot of interesting cooking projects will be whipped up at Chabot. Our themes will be Hobbies A-Z, Land Before Time, and Creature Features.

Trying to decide what to do? Here are some activities to choose from: doorknob decorations, charm bracelets, God's eyes, bulletin board pins, refrigerator magnets, friendship necklaces, stained glass windows, leaf rubbings, rose petal beads, air leaf bookmarks, dinosaur hats, pouches, maracas, dinosaur eggs, bead critters, pillows, bookmarks, dinosaur hats, bird feeders, and of course all those creepy, spooky, and ghostly Halloween decorations for your home.

HOMEWORK HEROES
Come one, come all! Earn prizes, finish your homework and spend more fun time at home. A teacher will assist your child to get started-read directions, give out paper, pencils, etc. Please talk to your child and any staff member about participating.

THANKS for all your help and support in getting the school year off to such a terrific start!

That's it for this month-more news to come-
