WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

It's always fun to see our returning families and exciting to meet new ones. We hope you had an enjoyable summer. A fantastic new school year is here and we at Adventure Time Glenview are ready to offer a fun and safe environment for your kids. Our wonderful teachers are back for another year of amazing art projects, crafts, games, sports, Homework Heroes, and so much more. Come meet our staff:

SUPER SEPTEMBER THEMES AND ACTIVITIES
We began the school year with Getting To Know You Week. Elisia taught the kids how to make creative hand mirrors and necklaces, while San had the kids make fancy name tags and colorful welcome signs. Hiyas taught design your own name tags, stickers, personal journals, and scrapbooks. The second week was Fantastic Families when San made family albums and family drawings. Elisia and children worked with wooden paintings, and bean and seed collages, and the kids enjoyed making pretty picture frames with Hiyas. Potpourri was our third week. Stephanie made window pictures, Elisia created wonderful smelling potpourri and lavender bags, and Hiyas helped the kids make soap. San was kept busy teaching the kids how to make salt dough bowls. Kaleidoscope of Colors was the last week of the month when Hiyas had the kids create colorful windsocks and rainbow hangings. With San, it was friendship bracelets, and interesting rosebud balls came from Elisia, while kids with Stephanie created fun mobiles.

OUTSTANDING OCTOBER THEMES AND ACTIVITIES
The first week of October was Harvest and Hiyas and kids made yummy fruit salad and a funny scarecrow, while Elisia has original papier-mâché bowls. We have Harvest cookies and leaf colors with San, and Stephanie with refrigerator magnets. The second week, Flower Fun, has Elisia creating flower pails and picture frames. San's busy with planting in pots, while Hiyas‚ kids are busy with Sculpey Clay flower magnets. Stephanie helped the kids create framed pictures. We begin the third week of Ghosts and Goblins with San sewing ghost pillows and pop-up ghosts, as Hiyas makes Halloween decorations for the room and boo masks. Elisia will create witches and ghosts, while Stephanie will make bats and crows. The last two weeks of October we have our Haunted Halloween theme. San is busy with hand painting and crazy mask making, Hiyas with fun trick-or-treat bags and Halloween Shrinky Dinks, and Elisia with mini-pumpkins, fancy hats, crowns, and wands. Stephanie will have fun with arm painting and spider rings.

K-TIME
We have a great bunch of kindergarten friends this year. We familiarized our Ks with our daily routine and Adventure Time rules. A.T. wants to make their transition a smooth and easy one. Our K-Time is a very special time, just for our K friends. We have circle/reading time, cooking day, free-play, indoor arts and crafts, and outdoor play. For September and October, we are busy with original place mats, fun windsocks and kites, pin-poke art, and clay play. Then there are fun games like dodge ball and musical chairs. Also, you may send extra clothes with them, just in case. Please label with his or her names.

HOMEWORK HEROES
Encourage your kids to join our Homework Heroes Club. Every afternoon, the teachers announce the HHC. We have a Homework Heroes table where they can work peacefully, and a teacher is always available when they need help. After homework is completed for the day, a teacher signs their own HHC sheet, and the kids earn stickers, certificates, prizes and special treats along the way. We want to help the kids get into the habit of studying and completing their homework. This is a fun way to encourage the kids to do homework. Check out our HHC board.

OUTDOOR SPORTS
We play a variety of outdoor games like four-square, jump rope, wallball, Chinese skip, and many more. On Wednesday afternoons, we have a special Sports Day. We announce our featured sport a few days before, and we have a sign-up list for the kids who want to participate. Sports Day games we have played in the past include dodge ball, basketball, kickball, tennis, baseball, and soccer, among others. On Fridays, we have an awards day when we recognize good sportsmanship and teamwork. The kids who participated get special prizes and treats.

Please be sure your Emergency Packet is filled out and kept up to date. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Be safe this Halloween!
Your Adventure Time Staff,
Stephanie, Elisia, San, and Hiyas
