WELCOME TO MALONEY!
Our A.T. Staff is excited
to meet all the new faces as well as seeing all those returning. We have
a fun and exciting year planned for all of you. There are lots of activities,
games, arts, and crafts as well as parties and a whole bunch of fun.
SEPTEMBER
THEMES AND ACTIVITIES
September 4-6................. Welcome
September 9-13............... Circle of Friends
September 16-20............. Awesome Apples
September 23-27............. Messy Fun
September was a month
of getting to know one another and enjoying being together again with familiar
faces. Maloney always has a close-knit group of kids. The children personalized
their cubbies, made friendship bracelets for each other, laughed at mix/match
face books they created, and munched on scrumptious caramel apples from
our own kitchen corner. We also had fun getting messy making our own slime,
oatmeal clay, and soda clay. They always enjoy messy projects.
OCTOBER
THEMES AND PROJECTS
September 30-October 4.................. Autumn Colors
October 7-11................................... Paper Plate Pizazz
October 14-18................................. Sugar and Spice
October 21-25................................. Pumpkin Patch
October 28-November 1.................... Happy Halloween
A.T. started the month
of October off decorating our room in beautiful fall colors with such projects
as autumn wreaths. Instead of our yearly fall tree, though, we constructed
a scary street post with arrows pointing towards Spider Lane, or Ghostly
Way. Staci and Francisca did a fantastic job with the kids creating a haunted
mansion scene with flying ghosts and hairy spiders. October is always a
fun month preparing for the celebration of Halloween.
A.M.
Hello! Welcome to A.T. mornings with Staci and Francisca! We have begun
a fun-filled year with your children. To start things off in September,
we spent a lot of time getting to know one another and getting ready for
Halloween. We all worked together in constructing a scary Haunted House.
The children really enjoyed participating in making pumpkin pancakes for
our morning snack. Every day after group time, we all do our morning stretches.
What a way to start the school day! Parents, please feel welcome to come
to any teacher with questions or concerns, and we'll be happy to help.
P.M.
Safety, along with fun, is our goal. When your child gets out of school,
we immediately take roll, have a snack, and then the activities begin. We
have one or two teachers outside with a project and one or two inside with
another. Then, with kids who are still here at 4:15, they may have a snack
that they brought from home. After that, we have another activity hour and
then Super Clean-Up. If they help during Super Clean-Up, they earn a prize,
which they love. All afternoon we have an area set up for your child to
do his or her homework-Homework Heroes Club to get them in the habit of
studying and completing their homework. We love to help them get set up
and started, but we do not sit one-on-one with them because each teacher
is responsible for a group of kids. They earn a prize for every five days
of homework. Rewards work so well! If you would like your child to participate,
let a teacher know and we will remind and encourage your child by checking
his or her Hero Sign-off Sheet. Watch for names of kids who are working
under the Homework Heroes Club banner in the newsletter. Please let them
know it's never too late to start.
OUTDOOR
ACTIVITIES
Outdoor activities consist of baseball, nationball, kickback, tetherball,
volleyball, badminton, football, jump rope, basketball, 1,2,3 breathe, SPUD,
steal the bacon, and off the line. That, just to name a few. It's always
a good idea to have your child wear comfortable play shoes when at school
and A.T.
KINDER
TIME with Gail
Gail always looks forward to her new group of kinders every year. The kids
enjoyed getting to know one another and playing together.
Our weekly schedule is:
Mondays-story time, dramatic play
Tuesdays-art
Wednesdays-cooking
Thursdays-science
Fridays-large motor movement
Busy kinders sometime have accidents, so perhaps it would be a good idea
to have a change of clothes in your kinder's cubby, in a name-labeled ZipLoc
bag. Also, it's very helpful to send a backpack or something in which your
child can carry belongings.
Thank you for your
support in all of the above; it makes for a safe and happy atmosphere for
everyone. The staff of Maloney Adventure Time is looking forward to a wonderful
year with all of you. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel
free at any time to come in or phone and talk to any of the staff. We love
to hear from you!

Francisca
